4: Simple

Simplicity is the key to a successful brand. Keep the number of elements to a minimum. Keep things clear and easily understandable, a good test is that it should be uncomplicated enough for a child to draw it.

5: Versatile

To be effective across all marketing platforms, brands need to be flexible enough to work in various configurations: landscape, portrait, circular format, positive and negative. You’ll also need a set of digital artwork files in CMYK for print use and RGB for online use.

Our Hertfordshire Community Foundation monogram symbol is constructed from a hand-drawn ‘H’,  ‘C’ and ‘F’. Two coloured dots over the ‘H’ represent the diverse culture of Hertfordshire and form 2 people surrounded by the ‘C’, suggesting a community. Here it’s shown in various configurations, highlighting its flexibility.
