How can good packaging design help?

A third of the decision-making made by consumers is based on packaging design alone. Unique and effective packaging design is about communication.

While it’s important to understand your requirements, ensure we communicate our ideas effectively, and the design succeeds in attracting the consumers’ attention – its work is not done yet. It’s essential that the packaging design conveys your message (details about the packs content, ingredients, recyclability and a host of other information).

Your product on the shelf could possibly be one of the first places that consumers will have the opportunity to see your brand, so it’s important to get the design right and ensure your product will hold its own on the shelf.

With our years of experience and technical knowledge, Right Angle offer you a proven track record of packaging design expertise, guiding you through the latest packaging design trends, maximising your unique brand identity. Whether you’re launching a new product, or simply need a pack refresh – we’ll take time to understand you and your business, ensuring we deliver refreshing results. Intelligent design solutions that demand attention, with a strong shelf presence and high levels of customer retention.

Our packaging design approach

Our 360° design process breaks each project into 4 simple steps. Discover, Design, Develop and Deliver.

We start any project by asking the right questions. Assessing and understanding your project requirements and expectations allows us to set off in the right direction.

Next, research. We’ll explore your products, services and your competition. Identify potential opportunities to provide you with a competitive advantage.

Based on our findings and understanding of your brief, we’ll brainstorm a variety of potential solutions and sketch concepts that answer your brief and ensure the packaging design is consistent with all areas of your business especially your brand identity. We’ll share our ideas and get initial feedback at this stage.

Before moving to the final stage, we’ll collate and implement your feedback based on our meeting and refine your chosen concept. We’ll also start prototyping, meaning you’ll have the reassurance seeing your new design in the flesh.

Packaging FAQ's

We've received various questions over the years, so here are some that we've collated in the hope that they provide insight for your project.

What should I prepare before starting a packaging project?

Depending on what you’re planning on selling, there are a few things you should consider:
• Product descriptive copy
• Ingredients
• Nutritional information
• Allergy information
• Storage conditions
• Instructions for use
• Contact details

In regards to the visual elements, do you have available:
• High-quality logo files
• Brand guidelines
• Cutter guide templates
• Good photography

We can help with all of these elements, but it’s good to have them prepared in the initial stages.

What type of packaging do you design?

Right Angle can design whatever packaging you need. We’ve completed designs for our clients that include bottles, cartons, labels, tins, tubes, bags, blister packs, cutter guides and boxes.

What type of packaging solution do I need?

During the initial stages of the project, we can advise on the best packaging solution for your product. There is also the option for us to produce mockups to help with product pitches.

What is a cutter guide template?

A cutter guide is a flat template for your chosen packaging. It shows the printer the cut and fold lines that are required. Packaging suppliers can provide you with these templates for standard products, however, if you’re looking for something bespoke, we can create a custom cutter guide for you.
