What good photography can do for your business?

The power of good photography shouldn’t be underestimated, especially considering the impact social media has and how quickly and easily content can be shared. Whether your photography is for a social media campaign, a website or promotional leaflet, image quality can either entice or deter potential customers.

Instagram has over 1 billion users, 25 million of which are brand accounts and Pinterest has over 250 million users! Social media plays a significant role in helping you to develop and raise awareness of your brand. In order to stand out from the competition on platforms dominated by imagery, you need to put time and consideration into your photography.

Within this article you’ll see some examples of our photography and also how we’ve optimised, enhanced and improved existing professional and amateur images, to produce stunning photography solutions.

Quality Image = Quality Service

The quality of your images has a huge impact on the power of the message you’re trying to convey. If customers don’t like the first couple of images they see, this can negatively affect your website clickthrough rate. If you load a website and see poor image quality, the likelihood is that you’ll associate this quality with the service they provide.

Image Enhancing or Image Editing?

Even photos taken by professional photographers can be improved, with subtle image enhancing. Through this process, small details that may have otherwise been missed can be brought out and balancing colour, brightness/contrast can help make a photo ‘jump off the page’, especially when being used in print.

Sometimes enhancing a photo isn’t enough and it may require further manipulation, in order to convey the right message and sell the product. Images that have a background that isn’t relevant and doesn’t work, can be carefully edited to remove the background, replacing it with a relevant setting (see the pan on a hob below) showing the product as it would be used.

To black and white or to colour, that is the question…

The use of black and white photography has many benefits. It’s timeless; sometimes colour can reveal fashion trends, dating the image. More flexible; black and white photos can be used in situations where colour might clash with graphics and typography. A lack of colour in a photograph often accentuates the highlights and shadows. Backlit subjects and dramatic shadows are brought to the viewers attention quickly in black and white images.
